Petroleum Release Assessment and Closure

Scope: Assess Petroleum Release with Limited Corrective Action

TecServ was retained by a manufacturing company to close non-regulated USTs used to store petroleum products for onsite consumptive use. During closure activities, evidence of a release was observed in the UST excavation.

To avoid a complex reporting, investigation and remedial compliance path, TecServ directed a “hot spot” removal that was intended to excavate and dispose of impacted soils that would likely result in ongoing compliance requirements. Afterwards, characterization sampling per the IDEM Default Characterization Approach for Petroleum Releases was completed.

The results of this combined approach were to obtain a No Further Action determination from the State of Indiana.
